Featured ColumnistOn entry one would expect a bar like atmosphere- perhaps rowdy and dowdy, bright lights and disco music but no, this place was only moderately busy for a saturday night, with soft candlelight and reggae and light chillout hits on in the background. you could easily hear yourself talk over the music which was wonderful and there were plenty of empty seats. The drinks are a little expensive at 2.80 a pint but if you ask for a bag of crisps they serve them up to you in a wooden bowl which I felt was quaint. The back of the bar was stacked with a massive array of minatures and the whole room is shaped around the bar before it trails off to the narrow narrow toilets (clean none-the-less). The staff were very friendly and it felt like a world away from the buzz of camden.Overall a nice warm up to a big evening especially if there is romance in the air: 7/10.

Hello, I'm on a mission to visit and rate every pub, club and bar in the UK. I know what your thinking but don't worry- i've got an artificial liver on standby.read about Gregory Cristal's progress on his blog http://barblog.lastminuteliving.com/

This pub is a firm favourite with everyone in the office. The staff are second to none, friendly, funny and attentive. The bar has a greaty range of draft and bottled beers, a nice selection of wines and which ever short ot shot you could possibly want.I have eaten here many times and have never been let down by the kitchen, the bar menu is great and the specials board is exactly that....special.This is not an 'estate pub' so don't expect cheap prices, having said that you can pay a lot more in Camden and get a lot less!!!

Pretty amazed by The Liberties I have to say. Ten years ago when I lived in the area this was a place to keep away from, really rough and dodgy. I don't know what's happened in the meantime but I couldn't believe it when, on a recent visit a friend suggested a pint there. Suddenly you don't feel like you might be stabbed at any minute which makes a nice change and the staff and clientele are friendly and laidback. Great pint of Pride and nice but slightly pricey food.
