Waiting Tables at Bar Solo
by Carlo Piovano

Jo is a waitress at Bar Solo on Inverness Street, the alley of some of the most fashionable bars in Camden. Between plates and cocktails she watches, day in day out, Camden life in the making. Here's what she thinks of it.

Name
Jo

What do you do / where do you work?
I wait tables at Bar Solo.

How long have you lived / worked in the area?
I've been working here for four months, but I've lived in the neighborhood for six.

What is the best thing about working around here?
The young funky atmosphere is great - there're lots of artsy types.

What do you think is the best buy / dish / cocktail in your shop / bar or on your menu at the moment? Why?
Our oyster platter is fantastic and the Chiag Mai duck is great.

What is your favourite part of the area and why?
I like the market because of all the interesting things you can find.

What is your favourite shop / bar / restaurant and why?
The Bintang on Kentish Town Road is cheap and funky, it's got loads of character and the food's great.

What is the best and busiest night to go out - Fri or Sat and where would you go?
Friday is busier than Saturday, but I'm not sure where I'd go.

Where would you say is the most desirable street / area in town?
Inverness Street of course!

Have you ever spotted a celeb in the area and where did you see them?
No, no celebrity tales.

What is everyone wearing at the moment - name a must have fashion accessory?
You see ugly boots everywhere, as well as head scarves and hair bands.

If you want to go and relax, where would you go and why?
I go home, or even better, on holiday.
