Councillors and police officials went on a tour of local strip joints and sex shops in the area - the things they do in the name of duty…

Councillors Keith Moffitt and Lucy Anderson visited Secrets lap-dancing club in Finchley Road and Venus in Camden Town as part of their investigation into the licensing and planning issues of these late night venues. Residents of Camden have expressed their fears that the area could turn into another Soho, should the late night licensing laws change.

Councillor Keith pronounced his tour as 'fascinating'. I bet…

 

Library reopens - May 2003

Camden library users are in heaven this week after the reopening of the revamped Swiss Cottage Central Library (Camden Central Library) on April 28.

This is the first time the entire library has been open since the building and refurbishment works started in September 2001.

As well as approximately £250,000 worth of new stock, the renovated library has a new and stimulating children's library, improved study areas and a new PC suite, refurbished reading areas, new shelving and presentation systems to make it easier to find information, new doors to improve access for people with disabilities, new lifts, a new heating and ventilation system, new toilets and a new café.
