Leandra Box, MyVillage

This is a bog standard Indian restaurant dressed up in a modern stylee.  The flock wall paper has gone and in its place muted colours, minimalist decor and lighting in all the wrong places.  What remains is the bustle of a troupe of Asian waiting staff and really average food.

Our samosa were pretty standard, the seekh kebab below average and the chiken tikka roll the best of what we had.  For our main dishes, the best of the bunch was a chef's special involving large prawns and a creamy sauce - can't remember the name but they over did it on the onions!  Sag aloo tasted the same as any takeaway, the dhall was watery and the lamb pasanda average.

The worst thing was the door to the place kept being opened by the staff in what appeared to be an attempt to see if anything interesting was happening on the street.  It was freezing and was not appreciated!  Oh and add into that, bollywood music videos playing back to back on the big screen.  I had a great evening, but only because of the fab company, iand n spite of not because of Massala Hut

I agree with the previous post. We also arrived as a group of 9 and had real trouble trying to to stop them from 'suggesting' we have a selection of extra side dishes. They were pushy bordering on the rude but once we insisted on ordering individual side dishes the food came quickly and was tasty. It looks as though this place is quite new - with such competition on Drummond Street they'll have to improve or they simply won't survive.

The food and restaurant was good, but the business as a whole was not. We went in a big group and had a bit to drink. The food arrived and we all noticed some extra dishes but didn't mention it as we thought some one else might have ordered them. At the end we found out no one did...in other words they put about 7 extra dishes infront of us (which we ate). When we asked about this - there wasn't much point as they didn't speak much English...we ended up paying for it, but DO NOT recommend this restaurant to anyone.
