You Sum It Up!:
Price: Fantastic
Ambience: More pub than club
Eye candy: Fit and fabulous

"The Vine this summer 06 has been fantastic. Whether you're inside or outside, lounge or garden, the service is the best ever. Antonio's fabulous food is equalled by the zappy international bar team led by Tony.

My favourite for lunch or dinner is the sea bass al cartocio - deliciously cooked in foil with spaghetti and full of exotic flavour.
The wine's good value too.

Anyone who hasn't tried The Vine recently is missing a trick! "

""Chose to go there due to reading it had been awarded the best gastro pub 99 etc only to discover it has changed hands since, and boy has it changed. Our meals took an eternity to come, dumped down by hostile verging on aggressive staff, with no apologies and were of a distinctly average standard for the money. We have now nicknamed it ' The Vile" Avoid it at all costs.""

""Have to agree with that review - nice comfortable place but the service is very patchy and the food is ok but not at that price. Wine is expensive too and not good either. Shame.""

""The Vine is based in a young, upcoming location on Highgate Road and is halfway between the bustle of Kentish Town and the green oasis of Hampstead Heath. The pub itself is a large, dominating building with benches out front which are perfect for a hot summer's day. Inside though is where The Vine really does show its charms. A square shaped bar serves a host of cocktails, strong bottled lagers and the usual suspects on tap whilst round the back is a quaint conservatory - suprisingly bedecked by a vine tree which lets in natural light and gives a cosy, intimate feel.

" Unfortunately, service at The Vine can be erratic. On one occasion I visited with a group of friends we were glared at all night by a moody barmaid as if we were doing something bad by actually going for a drink in 'her' pub - however, the next visit rectified that so it could be pot luck. Worth a visit.""
