"As refurbishments goes, Proud has trashed out the old and splashed out on the new. Their reinvention now emulates the fantasy realm of Alice in the Wonderland. This may sound like an outlandish attempt to entice more of their garish punters, but it is surprisingly consistent.

Though the Bar’s marquee could be a union of the Alices’- Alice Cooper meets Alice in the Wonderland, it is a sporadic adaptation of the Wonderland’s Mad Hatters Tea party, combined with rugged rock influences. Splashed out with a giant chessboard for amusement, comfy beds to lay on and cleverly… celebrity -printed deck chairs to relax (Bowie being in constant use-tut!) the fairytale garden is effortless in projecting a party buzz.

Oddly in the main bar area there are mounted deer heads, (relax Peta they are neither real, nor a showcase of Tennessee’s hunting season) but awkwardly the animal collectibles can be slightly off putting. However, unlike Alice this will be one rabbit hole to fall into.
