Pudstock
charity concert January 20 2007 Back in 2006 homeless charity Crisis put its very own delicious luxury Christmas puddings on sale. Buyers of the puddings may have found lucky sixpences in the puds when they tucked in on Christmas day but, in a twist on the tradition, these weren’t any old lucky sixpences – these were prize winning tokens with which you might claim a signed book from a renowned author, a fabulous Harrods hamper full of further yummies, theatre tickets and more. Also available were tickets to a special concert at Camden’s Proud Galleries on January 20. Pudstock, as the concert has been dubbed is set to be an indietastic night of goodwill, with live performances from ex Blur guitarist Graham Coxon, Oxford’s sideburned lovelies Supergrass and fellow guitar based warblers Ed Harcourt, Athlete, Dirty Pretty Things and Pearl Lowe. Further acts have yet to be confirmed but the gig has already earned itself thoroughly exclusive status with tickets being snapped up on eBay, which may not have been the most charitable way to get yourself in but has raised more than enough awareness to make up for it. The money raised from every twenty quid pud made sure that homeless people had a Christmas to remember courtesy of Crisis – not only a festive dinner with all the trimmings each but the chance to see a doctor, dentist, get a haircut, receive clothing and sign up for a year-round classes and events which will help them to take control of their lives.
