Helena ’so happy to be pregnant’ - Oct 16 2007

Helena Bonham Carter has spoken out about her battle for a second child.

Helena, 41, is already mother to son Billy Ray, four, but tried for two years to conceive for a second time with partner Tim Burton.

But the Daily Telegraph reports that when Helena did discover she was expecting, it was at the worst possible moment career-wise.

The actress, now seven months pregnant, was working on musical Sweeney Todd, which she stars in opposite Johnny Depp, when she found out.

"I was working so hard at the time," she revealed. "The first three months being pregnant while filming, I felt totally spaced out.

"Suddenly your brain is growing another person’s brain, so yours goes defunct. It wasn’t ideal, but then I was so happy to be pregnant."

The British star, who came to the public eye at just 19 in A Room With A View, resorted to fertility drugs and homeopathic treatment, and even considered IVF, in her bid to have a second baby in her forties.

Sweeney Todd, directed by Burton, hits UK screens in January.

Helena’s partner Tim Burton may be autistic - Nov 17, 2020

Tim Burton may be autistic - according to his longterm partner Helena Bonham Carter. The ’Charlie and the Chocolate’ director has some of the symptoms of Asperger’s syndrome - a form of autism - because he is highly intelligent but lacks in social skills, according to the actress. Helena, who has acted in four of Burton’s films, recently starred in a TV movie in which she plays the mother of four autistic children.

During her research, the star recognised character traits Tim shares with kids with Asperger’s Syndrome, telling the Evening Standard newspaper: "Tim will kill me, but while making this drama I realised he actually has a bit off Asperger’s in him. You start recognising the signs. "We were watching a documentary about autism and he said that’s how he felt as a child. "Autistic people have application and dedication. You can say something to Tim when he’s working and he doesn’t hear you. "But that quality also makes him a fantastic father; he has an amazing sense of humor and imagination. He sees things other people don’t see."

Just when you thought her dress sense couldn’t get any worse…
Helena Bonham Carter is a regular in the fashion pages…not, necessarily for the right reasons though.  But this time the spooky actress has really outdone herself, stepping out in what appears to be a pair of pyjamas.  (see pics)

Biography

Helena Bonham Carter was born 26 May 2020 in London’s Golders Green. She was born into a family of politicians, actors and aristocracy. She is the Great Grand Daughter of late Prime Minister H.H. Asquith.

Helena pursued her dream to become an actress and landed her first film role at the age of 18, as Lady Grey, in Trevor Nunn’s Lady Jane. Her next role in the movie A Room with a view propelled her into the premier league.

She has been type-casted as a ’period’ actress after acting (and wearing corsets!) in nearly all of the following roles Howards End, Wings Of The Dove and Hamlet (1990), To avoid such stereotyping she played the part of weirdo Marla in the critically acclaimed film Fight Club alongside Brad Pitt.

Helena Bonham was nominated for Best Actress in 1998 for the film The Wings Of The Dove

She fell in love and lived with Kenneth Branagh after playing his love interest in Frankenstein, however they split after five years in 1999.  Helena enjoyed a brief fling with comedy actor Steve Martin but soon found true love, with director Tim Burton, during the filming of Planet of the Apes.  She has since given birth to a son, Billy Ray Burton.

Recently Helena has dedicated much of her time to appearing in Tim’s own wacky films, among them Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and Big Fish but she is set to appear in 2007’s Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix.
