Jade Goody watched as a singer she was dancing with was attacked with a broken bottle in a nightclub, a jury has heard.

Jerome Simeon, 22, of Sheffield, Yorkshire, suffered a severe neck wound after being "glassed" by hairdresser Zoe Sigorney, St Albans Crown Court was told.

And the 25-year-old reality TV star, from Chipping Ongar, Essex, will give evidence for the prosecution, jurors were told. Sigorney, 28, of Peterborough, Cambridgeshire denies wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.

Prosecutor Ian Wade told the jury of eight men and four women that Jerome Simeon - who works in Germany - was injured after being attacked in the Sky nightclub in Ware, Hertfordshire, in February last year.

He said the singer had gone to the nightclub with a friend and had met Jade after arriving. The pair were dancing together and with other people, when he became involved in a fight with a man - thought to be Sigorney’s husband Wayne - before being hit over the head with a beer bottle by the hairdresser.

Mr Wade said: "Miss Goody saw what happened. She will give you her own account in her own style of what she saw."

He added: "We all know Jade Goody’s life has gone through a lot of turmoil. When this happened it was before she appeared on Celebrity Big Brother."

He went on: "You may take the view that what happened to Jade subsequently has nothing to do with this case. Or you may take the view, ’Knowing what I know about Jade Goody I will view her evidence in that light’."

It’s not been the best few months for Jade Goody, but the reality TV star has finally had some good news.

The 25-year-old will appear on a new BBC show this summer to reveal all about the Shilpa Shetty racism row and the backlash that followed.

She will be interviewed by former newspaper editor Piers Morgan on You Can’t Fire Me, I’m Famous, and a friend told The Sun it will give Jade a chance to set the record straight.

As well as the Celebrity Big Brother bullying fiasco, Jade parted company with her management company and had to fight a fire that engulfed her villa while on holiday in the Caribbean.

The friend said: "Jade was beginning to think that her bad luck would never end. But getting on this show will do her the world of good.

"It’s her chance to tell her side of the story - without anybody telling her how to say it or what her ’media strategy’ should be."

Jade Goody apparently had to battle flames as her Caribbean holiday villa was engulfed by a bush fire.

The Celebrity Big Brother star reportedly threw buckets of water at the advancing blaze as her two sons hid in the building, while boyfriend Jack Tweed phoned the emergency services.

The Sun reports that Jade’s family - Bobby, three, Freddie, two, and Jack escaped after firefighters eventually doused the flames.

But the villa in Tobago was affected by smoke damage and the family were forced to move to another resort.

Jade, 25, was on holiday to help her recover from the racism row over Shilpa Shetty which erupted during her time in the Big Brother house.

Far from helping her to wind down, the ordeal reduced her to tears.
